It is assumed that the testing for all infectious diseases like HIV, Hepatitis B and C, V.D.R.L. and other infectious diseases is performed prior to delivery. However, as part of the high standard of Ree’s work ethics, we also check the incidence of these diseases using a multi-system Real time PCR in addition to the routinely used ELIZA techniques. This method ensures curtailing of the detrimental window period of these devastating diseases and makes transplantation to unsuspecting patients absolutely safe and non-hazardous.
This sophisticated equipment is indispensable in the accurate measurement of counts, viability and potency of relevant stem cells.
We have a scientifically designed in-house microbiology laboratory to perform suitable sterility tests on all samples pre and post processing. This test is also performed at the time of retrieval of stem cells before the designated transplant. Fortunately the unbeatable processing and storage systems employed have ensured that practically all samples of stem cells preserved by Ree are free from any contamination or infection. However, any sample that is unfortunately infected or contaminated is immediately discarded.
An in-house HLA testing process is an absolutely essential test performed before any allogenic (for similar genetic constitution) match to determine genetic compatibility between donor and recipient. There are numerous HLA directories and a universal database through the ubiquitous NETCORD registry. Since acquiring the correct genetic match is often a Herculean task, ReeLabs plans to have an indigenous HLA directory for all our allogenic samples and subsequently get NETCORD registered.
Realizing the importance and benefits of quick processing, ReeLabs is operationally prepared with a proprietary logistics system that will ensure delivery of a sample to the central processing facility within the first six hours of collection. Our facility boasts of extremely high sterility standards and conforms to AABB (American Association of Blood Banks), GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards which are crucial for stem cell banking. While the entire lab premises is Class 100,000, the cord blood premises clean room is Class 10,000 and the safety work bench where the stem cells are actually harvested is Class 100. We strictly adhere to GMP and AABB standards and will be the benchmark for quality in stem cell banking industry.
CD 34 +, Mesenchymal and other relevant stem cells can be further segregated using various stem cell isolation systems. ReeLabs employs two universally acknowledged methods for this purpose:
- Magnetic bead isolation and
- Flow cytometric cell sorting techniques
ReeLabs is proud to possess the requisite technology to amplify or multiply relevant stem cells using various cell expansion systems. This enables ReeLabs to successfully multiply immunologically “precious or significant” stem cells. This not only effectively neutralizes the disadvantage of inadequate stem cell collection or yield but also presents the patients with an astonishing opportunity to potentially preserve and multiply these stem cells indefinitely.
