Meat whole grain, cereals, pulses & shellfish are good dietary source of zinc.
Metabolism:
It is absorbed in stomach & small intestine The actual metabolism is still not clear.
Role:
- Zinc is important in cell division.
- It also play important role in development in Neonates in & Wounds, healing.
- Production of sperms & testosterone hormone.
- There are more than 200 zinc containing enzymes which are involved in DNA synthesis & in synthesis of metabolic breakdown of oxygen free radicals.
Deficiency:
Includes reduced immune function, slow healing process, hypogonadism & delayed sexual maturation.
Develops skin lesions.
Hair loss
Zinc deficiency in pregnant animals leads to increased number of fetal abnormalities.
Zinc Sulphate & Copper exert anti-inflammatory & ant arthritic activity thereby reducing pain in Arthritis.
